The slipped disc is a disease that causes great pain to those who possess it, the protruding disc material that is part of the joints of the vertebrae of the spine. It may occur in the neck (cervical), thoracic or lumbar, and generates a lot of pain and mobility difficulties often.

Ozone therapy

Herniated discs are treated with rest and anti-inflammatory drugs or surgery, depending on their severity, but generally avoided the operation and the person suffers the inconvenience of a long time. A less invasive alternative is the ozone or ozone therapy, which can be helpful for a herniated disc. Here we use ozone therapy in disc herniation.

What is ozone therapy?

The ozone therapy for herniated disc involves injecting a gas mixture of oxygen and ozone in the environment of the damaged intervertebral disc, or on the same disk. Treatment can reduce pain and inflammation by decreasing the volume of the disc.

Mechanism of action:

The ozone treatment reduce the disk volume, thereby providing pain relief. The mechanism of action is complex but in simple words a decrease in the amount of proteoglycans in the intervertebral disc nucleus pulposus.

How is it done?

The intervention should be performed only in the operating room. With the help of an X-ray, a needle is placed in the intervertebral disc. The procedure takes about 20 minutes per disc, and is performed under local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure. The technique can be repeated, especially against a partial result, since the diffusion of gases in the space above is not precisely controllable.

After surgery, you need a rest period of 48 hours, followed by physical therapy treatment for the column.
